For what many believe are ailing genres, electronica and dance are getting an injection of the latest dizzying work from ever popular moonstruck musos Infected Mushroom. Their latest LP Army of Mushrooms has just been released, and it's an exciting time ahead for both band and fan.
Infected Mushroom have been going for years; forming in 1997 in Israel by Amit ‘Duvdev’ Duvdevani and Erez Eisen, these psychedelic trance spearheaders just keep going from strength to strength; Army of Mushrooms is their eighth studio album, and their eighth sonic metamorphosis. Loaded with dance floor killers like 'Never Mind' and a chaotic drum n' bass cover of Foo Fighters' 'The Pretender', you can be mighty certain that another genre-spinning work of electronica has landed in our mortal midsts.
It sees them tinkering with the likes of dubstep and metal (sometimes on the same song), and the result is a record that reeks of self-imposed irony - a wise move on IM's part, as their staggeringly layered output over the years could never have stood up unless Amit and Erez's tongues were set firmly in their cheeks. It allows the ridiculous - but ridiculously danceable - music to be as enjoyable as you can quite clearly hear it was designed to be.
To see them off on their latest adventure, their live shows are gearing up to be quite special indeed. Like two UFOs speeding through a sorcerer's brain (check out a teaser her), their tour dates are going to be almost out of this world.
