A torchbearer becomes a candidate to ‘good hearts competition’ winner.
An 84-year-old Moira Starkey, from Storridge in Herefordshire has been well-known for her charity activity. In the past she raised more than £10,500 for a breast cancer charity. Due to her fundraising achievements she was invited to carry an Olympic torch next summer. But she is not going to stop: her next goal is to raise £20,120 while training for the event!
Miss Starkey, who started to fundraise after her friend had been diagnosed with breast cancer was never afraid of innovative ideas. At the beginning she was selling homemade jams for charity, later she arranged pancake races, coffee mornings and music nights. She believes that her activity will help to ‘raise an awareness of The Haven and services it offers to people with breast cancer.’ As we can see, this is not about a physical condition, but about a spirit and aim to use a big chance to make a big difference.
