With an ever-increasing number of summer electronic music festivals appearing across the globe, now it takes something special to stand out from the over-saturated market. Groove Fest does exactly this, distinguishing itself as more of a music holiday with luxury accommodation than just another festival, but also being a fraction of the price of Ibiza.
Jason Nelhams, the festival organizer, when asked about the Groove Fest ethos for muzu.tv in July, replied "Groove Fest is a holiday meets festival environment – A Party in Paradise where everyone is VIP. Artists will be dining in the same restaurants with you and sunbathing next to you on the beach it’s totally unique in that sense." Set on the beautiful Caribbean Island of the Dominican Republic at Puerto Plata’s all-inclusive resort, Groove Fest is anticipated to be the perfect ending to the summer festival season of 2015 between 6th and 13th September.
Starting in 2012, Groove Fest has quickly developed a reputation as the best summer electronic music festival in the Caribbean, attracting dance music fans all over the world. The 2015 line-up appears to be strictly house music DJs, representing both the old and new: Chicago house DJ and electronics wizard DJ Pierre has just been confirmed along with Masters at Work veteran Kenny Dope, Green Velvet (another old school Chicago exponent) and US house mercenary Dennis Ferrer. More modern DJs include deep house crossover producer MK, Dennis Ferrer, Skream, Darius Syrossian and Defected main man Nick Curly. Talking of Defected, along with Objecktivity and London Warehouse Events, they are amongst the dance music organisations that will showcase their brands at the currently untapped Caribbean Island.
If at any point you need a break from the music, a wide range of distractions include world-class golf, deep sea fishing, cycling, horse riding, snorkelling, and helicopter tours. The resort also has four private beaches – Harmony Beach, Serenity Beach and two VIP Beaches - with elegant beach furniture (including hammocks), beach bars and restaurants.
