Stand up to racism protest announced on 18th March 2018!

Friday 8th December 2017 | Grace

In 1960, 178 people were wounded and 69 people killed as they took part in anti-apartheid demonstrations against racist laws that were being passed.

6 years later, in 1966, the UN introduced an international day for the elimination of racial hatred and since then protests have taken place across the world. This was to both commemorate the lives of those who have been wrongly killed over racism and to tell authorities that this should never happen again.

Next year’s demonstration will take place on Saturday 17th March 2018 and with all of us coming together in solidarity, it will ensure that the government will listen in making sure the lives of these people won’t be forgotten. After the rise of racism that has unfortunately spread through Britain in the past few years, now more than ever is the time to rise up against hate.

Across the world, racism and hate come from the actions and words of the most powerful influencers and it is vital, now more than ever to tell them that this is not okay. Cities across the world will all be taking part in this event and people can keep an eye on happenings on the Facebook page.

Put it in the diary, spread the word and be there to be part of an international event that is just the beginning of changing the world for the better.
