Wednesday 21st August 2013 | Moses

Shahid Khan aka Naughty Boy has come a long way from his humble beginnings in Watford, London. Living the life of a usual young person, Khan enrolled at London Guildhall University (now London Metropolitan University) to study Business and Marketing. Lasting only one term, he dropped out and worked numerous job including working as a delivery man for Dominoes pizza. (Yeah that's right Naughty Boy could've delivered you a pizza once upon a time). Not to be deterred from his love of music, he applied and was awarded a £5000 grant from the "Prince's Trust" which allowed him to build a studio in he's parents garage, the start of Naughty Boy Recordings. He didn't stop there, using his acumen he won a further £44,000 on the TV show Deal or No Deal back in 2005 allowing him to buy more equipment and expand he's studio.

It was after this Naughty Boy really began to make a name for himself by producing Chipmunk's hit single "Diamond Rings"  and producing for artists such as Professor Green, Devlin, Leona Lewis and Tinie Tempah. Undoubtedly one of the most important moments of Naughty Boy's career was meeting Emeli Sande back in 2008. From there the two began to establish a strong musical relationship that resulted in Naughty Boy producing most of Sande's UK number 1 debut album "Our Version of Events" and allowing him to produce for artists such as Rihanna, Cheryl Cole and Ed Sheeran.

After establishing his name behind the camera, Naughty Boy is finding success in front of it. His first single "Wonder" featuring Emeli Sande was a typical hit, reaching the top 10 in the UK charts. The second single "La La La" featuring Sam Smith was a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 1 in the charts and also gaining just under 80million views on Youtube. "Lifted" the recently released third single off the album has also gained positive reviews. Naughty boy's rise will lead  him to releasing his debut album "Hotel Cabana" this friday; the 23rd August. The album will include big names guests such as Wiz Khalifa, Wretch 32, Emeli Sande, Professor Green and Ed Sheeran. Speaking on the album, Naughty Boy stated "I want it to be an album for our time; it has a concept to it, so it's more like a film in some respects. I view it like I'm not just a producer – I'm a director, too". Naughty Boy's consistency and past success ensures Hotel Cabana will be one of the biggest and best albums of the year.
