Summer Soulstice Festival Playlist with Jamie Topham

Rare | Friday 17th June 2022 | Nicky

The Summer Soulstice Festival 15th Anniversary takes place Saturday June 25th from 11am onwards with a huge Line Up that includes Soul II Soul, Odyssey, Hil St Soul, Lukas Setto and Chris Ballin Live plus over 35 DJs across the Main Stage and 2 other tented arenas. Part of the Double J DJ duo, Jamie Topham selects 10 classic tracks for his Summer Soulstice Playlist.

“I can’t wait to be back this year after a two year break and so pleased to have landed legendary headliners like Soul II Soul and disco band, Odyssey, alongside all the DJ favourites and hosts, Fat Freddie M and James Anthony.

There’s a real demand for Soulstice and I’m thrilled to say we’ve nearly sold out so if you’re thinking of coming snap up one of the last tickets now. With food and drinks pop ups, limited camping, stalls and play areas with activities for those coming with kids, it’s a great day out with some amazing music. And with the DJs pumping up the sounds all day across two tented arenas, there’s something for everyone.

Before I go I just want to mention that it’s a charity fundraising festival for cancer in memory of our friend Andy Weekes, and all monies raised go to Cherry Lodge cancer care in Barnet. Here’s a classic Summer Soulstice Playlist and hope to see you in the fields next Saturday June 25th.”

1. 'Make My Dream A Reality’ - GQ

First track played at Summer Soulstice (23.6.07), Gilo pulled this out of the bag to play on Froggy’s legendary sound system we’d hired in.

2. ‘Magic’ - Circle City Band

A regular favourite and a big track with the connoisseurs, ‘Magic' will always remind us of the late, great Froggy who played at our first event.

3. 'London Town’ - Light Of The World -

A jazz funk soul anthem, members of LOTW and Beggar & Co, along with some of UK's finest, helped put the event on the map when they performed together back in 2009.

4. 'My Jamaican Girl’ - Love Unlimited Orchestra -

A big, BIG favourite both in the early days and now , this is pure sunshine music!

5. 'Where Love Lives' Classic Mix - Alison Limerick -

One of the best dance tracks ever made, love will always live at Summer Soulstice.

6. 'Days Like This’  DJ Spinna & Ticklah Club Mix - Shaun Escoffrey

Classic r&b and club fave from Shaun, who has also performed at the event in 2017. This remix is essential at the event, period.

7. ‘Amazing’ - Reel People

An uplifting soul track that sums up the beauty of the event; happy people, of all ages and colours, sharing the love and having lots of fun.

8. ' I Wish’ - Stevie Wonder -

One of the soundtracks to both Andy Weekes’ and indeed his family’s lives, no good soul event would be complete without a Stevie classic.

9. ' My Favourite Person’ - O’Jays

One of the greatest finalé tunes we’ve ever played at Summer Soulstice, with nearly 4000 people singing and dancing as one to this legendary trio… DJ’s James Anthony & Ash Selector take a bow.

10. 'Bring The Family Back’ - Billy Paul

A class cut from this class artist, we adopted this from our first event as our theme tune, because it’s always been about family.
