House | Monday 16th May 2022 | Becky

Easing us into the week, we have Declan Knapp curating our Guestlist playlist. Following on from his impressive release "Metanoia", Declan Knapp supplies us with a heavyweight selection of tracks from some of the most prolific producers of today.

From child DJ to future dance music producer, Declan Knapp has been entangled in music since early childhood. After being established in Drum & Bass for 10 years, touring across Europe and with plenty of releases under his belt, Knapp's true love for melodic modular synth now brings a cinematic style to the rave. In 2021, Declan Knapp debuted on Radio 1 with the popular Metanoia. Compared to Bicep by Jaguar and featured multiple times on BBC Radio 1 Introducing.

His sound has easily transitioned into an experimental mixture of House and Techno with emotive builds and satisfying drops. Produced with a perfect blend of organic Afro House sounds, glittering synthesis and strong electronic layers, immerse yourself into the visual and colour side of dance music.

Track 1
Bonobo - Age of Phase
This whole album is a huge inspiration to me, and it's hard to single the best track! I really feel this track has so many interesting layers and elements, with a real grittiness over the ethereal pads and chopped vocals. Wows me every listen.
Track 2
Nachtbracker - Hamdi
I've lost count on how many times I've listened to this track, and I think I hear new sounds every time. A great vibe and such amazing energy, it's one I always reach for during those sunset sessions.
Track 3
Leon Vynehall - It's Just (House of Dupree)
The sample. The bassline. The synths. It all just works and comes together to create something special, chilled yet a banger!
Track 4
DJ Seinfeld - These Things Will Come To Be
It's all about the emotion behind the synths on this one. I love how melancholic it is in parts but with a sense of euphoria. The use of glitchy drums and organic sounds really work and have inspired me to combine these styles in my own music.
Track 5
Catz 'n Dogz & Gerd Janson - Modern Romance
Sometimes you just need something fun - I'm a massive fan of how this doesn't take itself too seriously and uses loads of classic sounds with a super powerful kick. Dancefloor destroyer!
