Guestlist | Playlist: HiFi Sean

House | Friday 10th September 2021 | Arren

We've got a fabulous selection of tracks from the legendary HiFi Sean, just ahead of his appearance tomorrow at Egg LDN.

We have another big name taking control of our playlist this week; HiFi Sean. With thirty years of musical experience under his belt, you know that these selections will be on point!

HiFi Sean, otherwise known as Sean Dickson, had his musical beginnings as frontman in both The Soup Dragons and The High Fidelity, achieving big success in the UK and stateside. Following those adventures he turned his head to DJing and later producing. Now he’s a well respected DJ and staple on the London circuit, racking up appearances at many of the top spots in the city including; Dalston Superstore, Shoreditch House and Ministry of Sound. Known for his unique sound of electronic, psychedelic soul house music, it's little wonder he’s become a firm favourite at some of the biggest parties including; Glitterbox, Defected and Homoelectric.

This weekend he'll be at Egg LDN headling the club’s huge Pride Xtra-Vaganza. It sees the Kings Cross club hosting Gold Diggers and the East London crew Homostash who’ll fill the club with some of the most glorious house tunes from across the ages. Sean is headlining the event, joined by fellow Glitterbox legend Smokin Jo and an unannounced special guest! Meanwhile the Homostasch crew are bringing the vibes with; Tafkanik, Anahita Shamsaei, Sertima, Tigox and Die Arkitekt. They'll also be a love performance from; Charity Kase.

Having recently stood in for The Blessed Madonna on BBC Radio 6 and remixed classics such as Raphie Rosario’s 'You Used To Hold Me' and Fire Island’s 'Shout It To The Top', HiFi Sean is set to fire up the Pride Xtra-Vaganza party with a sparkling soundtrack that will have everyone on the dance floor. Just before the event he shares his Pride Xtra-Vaganza playlist with us, stacked with killer classics and seminial cuts.

'Born This Way' (Moplen Dub) - Carl Bean

"Killer dub from a few years ago of the Valentino classic later covered by Carl Bean."

'Got To Be Real' - Cheryl Lynn

"NYC Ballroom classic is all you need to say"

'Elements of Vogue' - David Ian Extravaganza

"This is where Madge got her juju from and I am glad she did."

'You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)' - Sylvester

"The energy on this record will still be sparking a hundred years and more from now."

'I’m Free' - Soup Dragons

"'Don’t be afraid of freedom'... I might not have been gay when I made this record… or maybe I was. It was big in the gay scene in the US which is funny as in the UK it was seen as a right scally lads track. Music is in the ear of the beholder."

'I Feel Love' - Donna Summer

"Well it has to be here… this record STILL sounds like the future."

'Young Hearts Run Free' - Candi Staton

"That voice, those words, the melody… Sublime and still a strong powerful message."

'Be Yourself' - Danny Tenaglia & Celeda

"One of my fave house records… it sounds like it came from outer space."

'Blind' (Frankie Knuckles Remix) - Hercules & Love Affair

"So much good and amazing people on one record."

'Deeper Love' - Clivilles & Cole feat. Deborah Cooper

"This is the original 12” and I think the best vocals (sorry Aretha). It really ascends and the queens go stellar"
