Nick The Lot launches his own label, Pick The Lock with a killer EP.
One of the hottest producers right now, Nick The Lot launches his own imprint today, Pick The Lock. After months of dropping banger after banger on loads imprints including Grid, Subliminal and Jungle Cakes this Brighton-based producer has been steamrolling his way across the scene. In the space of a year he’s managed to carve out a sound of his own with his signature bass stabs and clear-cut drums screwing up faces everywhere.
Despite a constant stream of savage beats raining down on the scene, he’s launching his own label and kicks off with a brutal EP from himself, The Gill Man. It’s four classic Nick The Lot tracks complete with punchy basslines, dynamic sounds and general filth. He opens with the title track 'The Gill Man', which he opened his RAMlive House Party set with a few weeks back. It's a stripped back clasher with epic samples from the 1954 classic 'Creature of the Black Lagoon'. Following up is 'My World', with a heavy drop and vigorous wobbles. Next up is 'The Future', a grimey beat where Nick exercises his wobbles to devastating effect. Rounding off the EP is 'Lab Rat', an untamed banger which is guaranteed to mash up the place.
It’s a ferocious opening EP from a label which already has plenty of works in the pipeline. We’ll be hearing a lot more from Pick The Lot in the comings months and years, and tbh we can bloody wait. The EP lands today, you can bag yourself a copy here.
