Guestlist | Clubs: Forbidden Society

Drum and Bass | Tuesday 14th April 2020 | Arren

The Czech Republic’s versatile producer and DJ, Forbidden Society is the next artist picking out his favourite clubs.

He’s a well versed member of the drum & bass scene with a platform that extends a lot further than his roots in the Czech RepublicThroughout the years his diverse output, energetic sets, record label and work as part of the hard-lined trio 3RDKND have all firmly placed Forbidden Society onto the map. A truly independent artist whose proved it is possible to make it, all that’s needed is commitment and hard work.

As an individual artist he’s a pelothea of music under his belt, but it was the Deadbox EP which marked a change in musical direction. It stripped back the sound and had deeper, minimalistic roots and went down extremely well. Exploring the sound further, Forbidden Society has dropped a new album on his own self-titled label, Liminal Point.

The album is a sonic adventure, delving deep into the musical mind Forbidden Society. Murky undertones and basslines strong enough to shake tower blocks get rinsed throughout within several strains of drum & bass. Tracks like 'Pins' and 'Bottom Check' are serious heads down tracks, whilst 'Sold Out Ego' and 'Ocean of Thoughts' inject a little liquid favour. Messing around with the usual format, tracks including 'Explorer', 'Peaks' and 'Deathborn' explore the half-time format in all it’s weird, disjointed glory. Collectively the entire album bangs, and bangs hard with a deep mystical bass and savage distortions. The album is out now on Beatport/Spotify and is fully released on April 16th.

Celebrating the album's release, and giving us something to look forward to after the current situation’s lockdown begins to be lifted, Forbidden Society has selected his favourite venues. These all look banging and definitely ones to be added to the ever growing bucket list.

Fabric - Ostrava, Czech Republic

For me this club is no.1 in my home country. I mean I love other places too, I play for the crowds, but the memories I have of this club, the owners, the crowd and the city is just pure love. Ostrava and this club are amazing.

Hard Club - Porto, Portugal

Portugal has always been an important country to play in. The Porto Rio legendary club on the boat is gone now unfortunately, but the amazing Hard Club has replaced it. The Porto crowd is energetic, and do not forgive if you don’t come with your best - speaking from my own experiences!

Heavy Sick - Tokyo, Japan

Japan has always been a country on my wish list, and I am happy that I had the chance to visit in my lifetime and play my music in this awesome country. The club in Tokyo named Heavy Sick isn’t huge, it is small, but it has great vibe. I love this place, also the Soundsystem is really powerful.

Aquarium - Budapest, Hungary

The first time I played in Hungary for the Bladerunnaz crew in this club was a few weeks ago, with our project 3RDKND and I totally loved this place. The Budapest crowd is also one of the greatest, they go for it with full power.

Yubileyny Sports Palace - St. Petersburg, Russia

If I have to play a show in this country, then it’s always with the Pirate Station crew running by Radio Record. I had the honour to work with Tanya, Dina, Irina and others twice. I love this huge place; the production is massive.
