Guestlist | Playlist: Michelle Manetti's essential club bangers
Friday 31st January 2020 | Arren
This week we’ve got a juicy load of tunes, handpicked from London-based DJ Michelle Manetti.
Though to say she’s just a DJ would be a huge understatement, that’s merely the tip of the ice-berg. She was the founder and editor of LipStickDisco, a female-run, female-focused music blog which despite it’s short operation built up a strong reputation in the industry. She also co-launched Fèmmme Fraîche with Sandra Le. A bi-monhtly female-focused queer party at Dalston Superstore. Michelle was resident there with a selection of visual artists and performers and many guest DJs including Honey Dijon, Rroxymoew, and Louisahhh.
That said, she’s still a well established DJ in her own right. A regular at Berlin’s prestigious Tresor, and many guest appearances at venues including XOYO, Ministry of Sound, and Village Underground. She brings strong vibes in her eclectic set, drawing for a wide range of sounds and styles with a particular persuasion for jackin’ beats, funky grooves and soulful melodies.
She’s got loads of parties coming up soon including the next Berlin Berlin event at Egg Ldn. She’ll be throwing down another one of her stellar sets in the main room alongside Paramida, Wes Baggaley and Luther Vine. Ahead of her appearance she’s shared with us 5 tracks that are blowing up in her sets right now. As expected it's an amazing list of tunes that just make you wanna get your groove on.
Dart - Nothing 2 It
I've just had it on repeat for the last hour, it's such a ravey anthem and I'm all about that hands-in-the-air rave music at the moment.
Chrissy - New Instruments
Chrissy is one of my fave producers right now, this is off his forthcoming EP New Atlantis and it's such a relentless banger, the whole EP is ace tho.
Cassy - Joey
Everything Cassy has released lately has been pumping, this is no exception, balls-to-the-floor jackin house, that came out on the Fabric 20th anniversary album.
Nina Kraviz - Ghetto Kraviz (DJ Slugo Juke Remixes)
Ghetto Kraviz is arguably Nina's most seminal release, originally from back in 2011, it's had various re-edits and re-releases, but DJ Slugo's Juke remixes have just had a new lease of life. I only just discovered these, as they had a digital release last week, but these remixes were actually out on vinyl in 2016. absolute gems though.
Loco Dice - Roots (DJ Tennis Remix)
This has been a mainstay in my sets since it first got my hands on it. Heavy breakbeat vibes, when the bassline kicks in, it blows your head off! such a killer track.
