A Love Letter to You 4 review – Trippie Redd

RnB/Hip Hop | Friday 22nd November 2019 | Jake

Trippie Redd has released the fourth instalment of his A Love Letter to You series of tapes. The release is his third project in 2019 and features 21 songs and numerous guest appearances.

The tape is arguably his best work this year, following the disappointment of his second studio album ! and the February mixtape old self. A Love Letter to You 4 (ALLTY4) was released earlier this month, ans has been steadily climbing the charts.

Fellow rappers Da Baby, Tory Lanez, Juice WRLD, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Yachty and YNW Melly all feature on the stacked album, which sees Trippie further develop his unique style. It’s a sound that can grate, as Trippie wails and moans over melodic ‘soundcloud rap’ beats. But it’s a sound that has proved hugely popular, and seen the Ohio-native front the emotional rap scene.

ALLTY4 doesn’t disappoint with its crooning, melancholic hits which take us inside Trippie’s world. Love, break-ups, hedonism, drugs and debauchery are all present. So too the braggadocio rap which Trippie (ironically) quietly excels at.

It’s by no means his best tape, but the 21-track effort naturally comes with some diamonds amongst the rough.
