Tinlicker run down their top melodic tracks

House | Tuesday 1st October 2019 | Arren

Following the release of their album This Is Not Our Universe, Tinlicker share their top melodic picks with Guestlist.

The Utrecht-based duo Jordi van Achthoven & Micha Heyboer, better known as Tinlicker finally dropped their debut album. It’s a melting pot of deep house, progressive and trance with an eclectic range of vocalists. Landing on Anjunadeep the album has made a big impact and has the seal of approval from legends like Pete Tong, Above & Beyond, Deadmau5 and Armin Van Buuren. It’s a sick album which you can buy/steam now.

Despite just releasing This Is Not Our Universe, the Tinlicker boys have already kicked off a huge tour with stops in the States, Australia and Europe. They’ve got some massive dates including the Watergate ADE Special and sets on the Anjunabeats UK Tour. Full details on their tour can be found here.

Somehow with all this going on we’ve managed to get the pair to run down their favourite melodic tracks. They’ve both blown us away with an insane collection of tunes that you’ve gotta get into your playlists!

Jordi’s selection:

Tale Of Us - Oltre La Vita (SCB Introspection)

So this is actually a remix from Scuba. This track is long, but the atmosphere in this track makes it feel so short. I was and still am very addicted to this track.

Tiësto & Junkie XL - Obsession

This song has such a beautiful progression. It's a true nine minutes song with a good story. And one of the reasons why I started to love progressive music.

Spooky - Belong (Echospace Dub)

This track was on the (for me) legendary Sasha ‘Involver’ CD. This Echospace dub is still a masterpiece by itself. It doesn’t sound old at all.

Junior Jack - Thrill Me

When I started DJing in Utrecht, this was the record I would always spin. And it worked all the time. I think this is still such a classic house record.

Tame Impala - Let It Happen (Soulwax remix)

Another long track. Somehow it attracts me. I just love these great vocals from Tame Impala, combined with sexy beats from Soulwax.

Micha’s selections:

Trentemøller - Moan

It’s like an electronic love song, but a sad one. The feeling you can't get back what you've lost. It feels real and that's why we love it.

Underworld - Cowgirl

Underworld have been a big part of my teenage years. And I saw them again last year and these songs still kick so much ass. They have written some electronic evergreens. This song with the cut up poetic vocals in combination with these hypnotising beats form a perfect match.

Stephan Bodzin - Sonnenwind

Stephan has, like nine lives. He's like the cat of techno. Keeps reinventing himself and ahead of its game. And this beauty is one of our favourites. A perfect melody with original song structuring.

Oliver Huntemann - Tranquilizer

Love the way this song starts, and it keeps you interested until the very end. Perfect story.

Joachim Pastor - Millenium

A song you can play on repeat for a day and still like. Wish we wrote it.
