51st State: magic in Trent Park

RnB/Hip Hop | Wednesday 28th August 2019 | Annalisa

2019 was the fifth birthday of 51st State and with the sun shining, Trent Park was ready for a party. Expertly curated, every tent had a selection of top quality music from start to end and it’s one of the reasons that within only 5 years, the festival has become a staple or every music fanatic’s calendar.

The Groove Odyssey headline stage had captured the crowd from the minute we landed where Dimitri from Paris was wrapping up his set and handing over controls to one of the original masters, Dennis Ferrer. His bouncy set, packed full of bangers and mixes of tunes you’ve never heard before, had the whole crowd dancing as much as the man himself.

Back to 95 was banging out classics all day with a crowd bursting out the edges to see DJ EZ do his thing.

Kenny Ken, Jumping Jack Frost and the Ragga Twins gave us some much appreciated bassy energy to round off the Hot Wuk stage before heading over to the Groove Odyssey stage to catch, the one and only, Kerri Chandler. One of the greatest DJs house music has ever seen, he played a classically on point set that really showed he’s a legend for a reason. Barbara Tucker, jumped on the mic to sing Deep Inside live to help round out the night in serious style.

There aren’t many parties where you can tell from the moment you arrive, there’s going to be good vibes all day but 51st State is one of them. A day fuelled with classic house, legendary disco and old school garage tunes, it’s the only festival of its kind in London. We’ll see you next year!
