DJ Zinc's top picks of all things UK bass

House | Thursday 20th June 2019 | Arren

The best in UK club music from one the leading tastemakers in the game, DJ Zinc.

When it comes to UK dance, few have been as prevalent as the mighty DJ Zinc. His back catalogue features anthems of jungle, breaks, garage and house. He's been at the forefront of the UK electronic scene with his solid productions and explosive DJ sets for over two decades.

One of his biggest projects is his huge Crackhouse album series. Volumes 1 and 2 had huge impact in the clubs and shaped the musical landscape as we know it today. Keeping at the epicentre of innovation, Zinc has rebooted the series after 10 years with hotly anticipated the 3rd instalment. Spoiler alert, it's fucking sick.

Making the return with 10 banging tracks, Zinc slides his way across genres the only way he can - lacing each tune with his quirky trademark that's had ravers going mad for decades. Working with the legend of grime and UK garage; JME and President T, to emerging talents; Kamakaze and Everyone You Know and featuring a fair share of his own works - this album bangs and bangs hard. The album dropped last Friday on Zinc’s own Bingo Beats, bag yourself a copy here.

Celebrating it’s release, and UK music - the main man himself has out together this incredible playlist of tunes. Featuring a mouth-watering selection of house, garage and drum & bass this one will get any party moving. Strap those speakers down cos things are about to get loud!

DJ Zinc & Chris Lorenzo - Conditioning

Always good fun working with Chris Lorenzo, he’s a certified don! We made this in his White House in Brum before he moved to LA.

Kanine – Calculate

Good rolling bass heavy dnb. One of the new skool of producers who are setting standards of vibe and production.

Redlight - Source 16

Thought I’d pick one from Redlight’s back cat - his new tracks are fire but this one still shines even after a few years doing the business. Banger.

Notion - Deadly Weapon

’Real’ put Notion on the map and it’s a banger for sure, but I prefer this one. Heads down, bass heavy catch melodies. Sounds like a dark loud room somewhere at 3am. Love it.

Inkline – Shindig

I was really happy that Inkline let us release this on Bingo Bass - deeper than our usual stuff, but fits with the overall vibe. He’s been making interesting music for a while now, so I’m glad it came together.

Hot Goods - Time’s Up

This really is the sound of now, the bass noise used is a perfect example of how bass house sounds in 2019. Aggressive but melodic, I play this one every set!

Zero - Pay For Thrills

Zero’s bootleg mix of the Dizzee Rascal banger, people love the vocal so they go crazy for this mix, and Zero delivered for his part.

Shift K3Y – Oh Boy

Another bassline banger, Shift K3Y is really versatile, from full on musical stuff to tearout bassline tracks, of which this is the latter.

Distinkt - Extra Terrestrial

He’s another producer who’s made a massive impact on the bass scene in the last couple of years, really raw production and killer vibe.

Simula – Warthog

Another pretty new name making some serious waves, I’ve heard djs from all across the dnb scene playing this one. I really don’t know how to describe it, you have to listen to it to understand!
