Drum and Bass | Saturday 20th April 2019 | Tom

Adred is a man with a lot of fingers in a lot of musical pies. Flying the flag for Drum and Bass in New York City as co founder of his Natural Selection promotion and with releases on 31 Records, CIA and Soul:R to his name. Adred makes a blistering return to Goldie’s monumental Drum and Bass imprint Metalheadz this month with a crucial double pack featuring co-labs with Commix on the vibey “Valley Grove” and Ant TC1 with majestic roller “Stuck in a Loop”, which also features the vocal skills of Manchester’s finest DRS.

Keeping in spirit with the vibe of the release Guestlist was lucky enough to meet up with Adred to discuss his top 5 Drum and Bass co-labs.

1) Mist:i:cal - Time To Fly. It's hard to pick one track by Marcus Intalex, ST Files and Calibre. This track opened my mind and ears to something completely different. It was on the other end of the spectrum from what I was listening to at the time. Absolutely flawless music and still sounds fresh years later.

2) Alix Perez & Ivy Lab – Maiden. I really enjoy when Alix shows his deeper side and this track was one of the best things he's done. The depth and sophistication really inspired me to up my production game.

3) Konflict - Messiah. Kemal and Rob Data were a duo for years but it’s a collab none the less. Absolutely one of the most influential tracks to me early on. Just plain sick. First anthem I can remember every DJ playing out.

4) dBridge & Calibre - Ponderosa. This record never left my crate. Easily one of my top 5 tunes in any genre of all time. To know how easily they wrote this really inspired me. It also let me know that great tunes can just happen without much effort.

5) Ed Rush & Optical – Funktion. It was really hard to pick just one of their tunes. This one has been really important to me. This funky edgy style is what defined a decade of my life.
