James O’Brien spars with Dominic Raab

LBC radio host James O’Brien, famed for his stinging assessments of Brexiters, has ridiculed a new target: Tory leadership hopeful Dominic Raab. Raab had previously gained notoriety for his doomed stay as the UK’s Brexit secretary, during which he admitted to underestimating Britain’s (an island) reliance on the Dover – Calais crossing.

Now, as Raab preps himself for a run at the Tory leader gig (prep that includes enlisting advice on public speaking), O’Brien dedicated a seven minute segment of his show to air quotes from Raab which O’Brien gleefully analysed and picked apart. In response to the segment, which soon became one of O’Brien’s most popular, viewed pieces, Raab stroppily blocked O’Brien on twitter, denouncing him as a member of “the Looney Left”.

Raab quit the position of Brexit secretary in November, only four months after being appointed. Since resigning he has positioned himself as a future leader of the Tory party, although, as documented by O’Brien’s video, he is prone to coming across a little negatively.
