The Getty kidnapping script, All the Money in the World,  has now found its director.

Ridley Scott is now set to direct the drama, which will focus on the infamous 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III.

The Black List script, written by David Scarpa, follows the story of Gail Harris, Getty’s mother, who fights to get her son back from the Mafia, whilst his grandfather, the oil tycoon John Paul Getty Sr, initially refused to pay the ransom set.

Sony will deal with the worldwide distribution of the project, whilst Imperative Entertainment is set to handle the production, which will take place in Italy.

Scott will also produce under his Scott Free Banner (Ridley's production company), he will be joined by Mark Huffam and Kevin Walsh.

Academy Award winner Natalie Portman is reportedly eyed for the role of Gail Harris, after Angelina Jolie was offered but couldn’t take the role due to scheduling issues.

No news as to when production starts or when the film aims to be released, with Scott currently finishing up the next Instalment of his Alien franchise, as well being attached to direct the adaptation of Don Winslow’s drug-running drama, The Cartel and producing the Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049, we might be waiting for a while.
