Technique's neurofunk ambassadors are back.
Spain’s biggest drum & bass duo, Gradual's latest release again proves our preconceptions wrong about what drum & bass from the sun soaked Mediterranean country is like. Forget the smooth liquid vibes that you may expect, instead expect the hard hitting post-modern sound of neurofunk. Gradual, made up of Alerstorm and Ice Stereo, combined their efforts and signed up to Technique last year. Sitting nicely on the dark underbelly of drum & bass, they have become key representatives of neurofunk for the label.
Beware / Swamp is the duo's first release this year, and only their third project as Gradual to be released. Both cuts go down the technical route of neurofunk, with mechanical sounds, gritty edges and injects of bass. First up Beware hits you with stabs of bass over a classic neuro drum beat, that's all rounded off from hardy vocals from Coppa. Following is Swamp, a record that sounds directly out of the factory. The stripped back beat sounds so raw especially with the intermittent bass blasts.
Hefty beats from these guys once again, keep your eyes peeled for more from Spain's premier drum & bass duo. The release is out on Friday.
