Lets all party on the roof

Other | Wednesday 19th June 2013 | jim

Bored of always going out and walking down some steps into a dingy, dark club? Yes, well why not head for the roof. Its outside and in London you are sure to have some sort of good view. A number of parties have begun to take place on roves across London, quite often partying on the roof first before heading into the darkness of the club at night. Taking inspiration from New York roof and loft parties some of the coolest nights have decided that people are no longer content with partying inside, so moved it outside. Festivals are of course outside too, but they are huge and impersonal. The roof parties give you the feeling of being in a tiny club, while being outside. The weather may not be the best for it in London at the moment, but so what? The parties are super-fun and look set to be London’s most fashionable thing to do. The DJs are not just guys who know how to work a computer either. Some of the top DJs in the world are heading to the London skyline to mix tunes for groups of lucky crowds amongst this strange and new setting.

Dalston roof garden has just opened, and has a bar open from 5pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends and has a huge selection of events coming up. Some of the events are film nights, but some of them are club nights that have been moved to this exclusive rooftop venue, inside a specially created cover. It seems, as in New York when space began to get cramped below that people began to move to the roof. This space strives to push the boundaries on re-imagining space to create new unconventional places for events.
