Food Review: L'eto Caffe (Soho)

Tuesday 4th June 2013 | Abby

In Soho? Stop! Take a detour to L’eto Caffe on Wardour Street to enjoy the diverse flavours of the world or a mouth-watering dessert and hot beverage.

If you have a sweet tooth, then walking down Wardour Street is dangerous! Whether you are hungry or not, walking past the shop-front of L’eto Caffe in Soho with their beautifully presented cakes, tarts, meringues, and other delightful desserts staring back at you, will immediately draw you in! You walk in and already feel chilled, this place is relaxed. When walking in, it becomes evident that there is more to this cafe than amazing looking desserts, the interior is decorated with comfortable seating and untamed neon lights, and the atmosphere is indulgent.

L’eto Caffe provides a great range of coffees and flavoured lattes; however, if it is tea you are into then never fear, because the teas are vast, with a good range of traditional teas and interesting herbal infusions. Just a word of warning, be careful with the herbal teas, yes they are interesting blends and they are displayed beautifully, many are very sweet and come in very large tea pots. Unless you enjoy guzzling super sweet tea or slowly sipping through bitter tea, than certainly go for it, if not, then I recommend sharing the pot with one or two other people. Enjoy a coffee with a hint of alcohol, well, it is here, and a civilised, warm drink is perfect for one of the chillier days of the year. The desserts are all creative and presentable, from simple muffins, citrus meringues, and complex cakes. One purely delicious dessert that is light and flavoursome is the Fig and Cardamon Tart, inspired by the Middle East.

Stumbling upon the cash register, you realise that this cafe continues to provide diversity. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there are starters and main meals which are suited to everyone. L’eto Caffe offers the flavours of Eastern Europe, Asia, and Mian, with colourful salads, diverse main dishes, wholesome breads and sandwiches, and great breakfast. L’eto Caffe also supplies a catering service which permits people to enjoy these delectable dishes to be enjoyed at parties and events. The starters menu for the catering service is probably the only displeasing aspect, because there seems only to be pastries and quiches – not always the best first impressions for everyone.

For food art and complexity, L’eto Caffe is certainly good money for value. Young L’eto Caffe only opened in Soho in February 2011, and has since strived opening cafes in Chelsea, Belgravia, Mayfair, Kensington, and Notting Hill. L’eto Caffe’s are closely located to tube stations located in these areas, which has successfully made them accessible, which make them even more desirable to visit and enjoy a great meal or tea break. A bonus is the free-WiFi, so this great and comfortable atmosphere is always great for escaping the rush of the outside world and quietly completing work on your computer. The staff are always friendly with big smiles and kind greetings, it is great to go out and enjoy your tea or food where the staff actually, genuinely seem happy to be serving you.

Overall, the experience at L’eto Caffe is satisfying, with wonderful food, tasty beverages, sweet staff, and a great atmosphere.
