University of Hertfordshire Open Days
Thursday 21st February 2013 | Osh
It’s hard to know what coming to University is really like until you’re here. Even asking current students about their experiences, whilst helpful, doesn’t tell the full story.
That is why, at the University of Hertfordshire, they recognize the importance of getting a ‘feel’ for the place before becoming a student here – the smell of the books on library shelves; how well you can hear the tutor speaking in a lecture hall; how good the curry tastes in the restaurant. These are all very minor elements of a typical day on campus, but they all feed into the overall experience of being at University.
It’s a bit like buying a car. You know it will get you from A to B, but what you really want to know is how comfortable the driver’s seat is; whether there is air conditioning; how much base the stereo has; how smooth the ride is, etc. It isn’t until you take the car out for a test drive that you can know these things.
These Open Days are your opportunity to ‘test drive’ the University - allowing you to get a real sense of every day student life. It’s your chance to:
-
Visit College Lane and de Havilland campuses
-
Talk to staff and students
-
See their accommodation
-
See their new £38m entertainment venue - the Forum
-
Find out more about student finance
As someone applying to University, you probably have a lot of questions you’d like to ask. An Open Day gives you the chance to ask both staff and students anything you’d like to know.
Walk into student halls and get an idea of how much space and freedom you will have. Explore The Forum and discover the social spaces you would occupy. Get as much information about fees and loan as you can – you may even discover you are eligible for additional finance you didn’t even know about.
An Open Day gives you the full picture, helping you to make an informed decision about your further education and to sample all the facilities and benefits we have to offer.
