Matthias Tanzmann Interview

It’s that time of year again, Cavo Paradiso have released another of their Grecian compilation CD’s inspired by world dance music. With Matthias Tanzmann and Satoshi Tomiie at the helm of this year’s selection of tracks, Cavo Pardiso CD10: Definitions is the 10th Compilation to be released by the Mykonos beat-house. We checked in with Matthias Tanzmann to discuss the tracks, his side of the album and his tour.
You have just mixed the Cavo Paradiso CD, Definitions how was that for you?
It was actually nice to sit down in my studio and make a mix of some of my favourite tracks at a time. It is different from DJing at a gig where you develop a set depending on the crowd and the atmosphere.
Was track selection for your side difficult?
Yes and No. It was not difficult to pick some great music. Plus, I had the chance to feature some of my close friends. The difficulty was to find a balance between tracks that might get popular by the summer and those less known and obvious in order to create a mix that doesn't lose its attractivity after the season.
And your favourite track?
It is quite difficult for me to pick a favourite from the tracklist. With so much music around nowadays, my favourite tracks change from week to week.
How do you feel about the overall finished product?
Well, as I am on tour I havent seen it yet. But I am anxious to receive it soon.
You are currently on tour, how is that going?
It is a very intense time on tour. Great places, people and parties on one side, but lack of sleep and a life in hotels, airports and planes on the other. As much as I love touring the world I am also always happy to be able to spend some days at home.
