The Highlands, Scotland
This is where the Scottish Highlands come in. After months of partying, spending, partying and yep, spending the Highlands offer the perfect place to chill with your best of best friends with the lowest budget possible.
The Highlands themselves offer a beautiful setting with mountain ranges dominating the skyline. The sparsely populated countryside can look like a scene from a movie, especially when driving on a perfectly straight road with peaks, valleys and waterfalls all surrounding. The clean air is a welcome refreshment from the cities smoke and makes unwinding all the more easier. With great food and the best local pubs, it is a serious destination for this time of year.
It is as easy as hopping in a friends car (or renting for the unfortunate), filling it full of petrol, and heading north, stopping only for food and toilet breaks. Once there, camping is free in the vast countryside (just make sure that you can’t be seen from a road), building a fire is as easy as collecting wood and food is as simple as lighting a BBQ. With a group of close friends, a bottle of the finest Scotch and an iPod dock, it makes for some of the most chilled, enjoyable nights possible. During the day there are the pubs, the scenic walks and the mountain climbs, it is all about relaxing in your favourite company. Some people from TGN did this recently and it was a brilliant weekend (and it cost about £40 each!) Long live summer.
