Jamais Vu presents Badself and their brand new video.
You thought Sunday’s and Jamais Vu couldn’t get any better right? Well this Sunday Guestlist Network has a treat in store for you. Pitt from Badself is coming down especially to Jamais Vu to launch the brand new video for Fresh to Death, the track featuring home-grown vocals of Reasha and Pitt, himself, laying down what ‘Fresh to Death’ means. We caught up with Pitt and Reasha before Sunday for a few quick questions.
Why did you become an artist?
Pitt: I had a passion for words, and creatively putting them together to make rhymes. I became an artist when a close friend and I decided to put money together to hire a studio. Since then I always felt I had a message I wanted to get across through my music.
Reasha: Entertaining and performing came naturally for me because I grew up with a musical background and I became an artist because I believe in my talent. People noticed that I had a voice at an early age but it was while juggling modelling and a fashion degree at university that I discovered my personal love for music and nurtured the distinctiveness of my voice.
What inspired you to become an artist?
Pitt: My inspiration for rapping came from the golden era (mid nineties) of hip-hop, from artists such as Nas,Tupac, and Wu Tang Clan. I was also heavily inspired by reggae music and dancehall artists such as Beenie Man, Shabba and Bounty Killa.
Reasha: My inspiration came from watching performers and entertainers. I love live shows, I love watching live shows, and I love the energy they generate. Motown classics played a huge role in my musical inspiration, however solo artist and groups in the 90’s such as En Vogue, Escape, TLC, 702, and Destiny’s Child ignited the performing buzz within me. My love for music mixed with my yearning to performing made me the artist I am today.
How did you become an artist?
Pitt: I became an artist at age 16, recording and performing at talent shows with school friends.
Reasha: I became an artist at the age of 16 in a quartet girl group where I developed my talent by taking part in UK school tours and Choice FM’s Biker Cruise.
