Chris Brown Set To Retire After Release Of His Next Album

R&B superstar Chris Brown took to twitter the other night (August 6th) to let the world know that after releasing his upcoming album X, he plans to retire from the music industry. He stated on twitter that is was not fame that was getting to him, but called his fame “a mistake”. This refers to when Breezy was 18, and while in a relationship with Rihanna at the time, she suffered domestic violence at his hands. Years later, Chris Brown is still resented for his awful behaviour and it seems that his mistake has brought so much negative energy around him that he wishes to be out of the spotlight for good.

Letting 'Mainstream America' know what was on his mind, he stated “After this X album, it'll probably be my last album," to which he followed up with “Being famous is amazing when it's for ur music and talent. I'm tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I'm cool & over it!” Shocking as this may have been for CB’s followers, the incident with Rihanna is not the only trouble Breezy has seen highlighted in the media. A nightclub brawl with Young Money rapper Drake, public altercations with singer Frank Ocean and a recent court hearing concerning a hit and run case has all increased Breezy’s high and often negative public status.

Chris’ eagerly anticipated album, X, is expected for release on August 20th and features many big names including Nicki Minaj, who is on his latest single, ‘Love More’. Though it’s sad to see a talented singer/rapper retire, I’m sure retiring at the age of 24 would be a welcoming idea for a lot of us, and let’s be honest, he won’t be waiting for his pension to keep him occupied. The amount Breezy is in the media, will retirement really drag him out of the spotlight? We’ll see; watch this space!
