New 5,000 capacity venue opening in Canada Water this January.

House | Tuesday 29th November 2016 | Arren

Printworks is a 5,000-capacity space in Canada Water, opening January 2017.

The vast, multi-purpose space takes residence in the old newspaper printing factory for the Evening Standard & Metro.

Located just a 5 minute walk away from the Canada Water tube station (served by the night tube); Printworks boasts six spaces across multiple levels for events and shows and will be more than just a club; more of an "experimental, multi-purpose cultural destination" for South London.

Opening it's doors this coming January, LWE & Broadwick Live are taking the reigns of the music programming. The 16-acre factory will host live gigs and all day parties - much like the ones at the Tobacco Docks. Extending further, Printworks also aims to hold other events including ballet, theatre, and food festivals.

Much of the original layout, including the machines, are still inside untouched - giving the space a uniquely industrial feel. For now they're working on a sound system to suit the layout, kitting it out with LWE's L'Acoustic K2 & SB28 Loudspeakers and an automated lighting truss system, though expect this to be a premier new venue in a city that's crying out for new cultural spaces.

The first set of events will be announced this Friday, and is rumoured to be starting with a 10-week series starting in January.
