It's been 16 years since they left us, but finally The Avalanches are back

House | Thursday 2nd June 2016 | Arren

The clues have all been there, but finally we officially know that The Avalanches are back.

It's been 16 years since the Australian sample-tweaking electronica group smashed it their globally successful debut album Since I Left You. After their land mark album the group went very quiet, until recently anyway.

There have been little hints and voxes for years about a possible new album, and they've been really cooking up this year as the group posted videos online, have been billed at festivals around the world and posters appearing across their homeland, mostly all asking a simple question: ‘since they left us - what ever happened to The Avalanches?’

Well wonder no more, as after years of hints and teases the first new material from them was played. Following the global premier of 'Frank Sinatra' by Zane Lowe, The Avalanches have circulated the artwork for the group’s second album and the title, WIldflower and is expected to be out later this year.

Played one Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, the lords of sample play had their new record ‘Frank Sinatra’ played. It’s the first taste of the upcoming album Wildflower album which is rumoured to feature huge names including Danny Brown, MF Doom, and Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux across 21 tracks.

The Aussie band will be bringing their epic, fun loving electronica sounds to the UK at Brighton’s Wild Life - full details here.
