Support The Arches because the UK's club culture is under threat

Other | Friday 15th May 2015 | Annalisa

The UK's club culture is seemingly under increasing threat from regulation. Fabric had its licence questioned just before Christmas; Vibe Bar owner Alan Miller cited "excessive and unreasonable restrictions" on their activity activity by the council as the reason that led them to close the venue and today, 15th May, Glasgow’s licensing board has taken measures to shut down The Arches, one of the city's most successful venues.

Board chairman, Bill Butler, announced the venue would be forced to close every day at midnight, effectively meaning an end to operations for the club. The move against The Arches follows the latest complaints against the venue by Police Scotland and is the third time in just over a year the police have tried to shut the venue.

The time is now to support our UK club culture. Our club culture not only brings in much needed revenue to our economy but also helps renovate neglected areas and helps create the hub of creativity that drives so much buzz in our cities.

Increasing support can be seen online for The Arches and you can support by backing their petition here. Get involved!
