Innovative Danish electro duo Rangleklods serve up Straightjacket

Other | Friday 15th May 2015 | Christina

Esben Nørskov Andersen and Pernille Smith-Sivertsen, aka electro duo Rangleklods, are set to release their new album Straitjacket on 18th May via Tambourhinoceros. Their sound has invited comparisons to Caribou and Depeche Mode, while the pair themselves cite David Bowie and Burial as influences.

Straitjacket builds on the success of their debut album Beekeeper, which was released in 2012, showcasing a sound that embraces complexity in production and immediacy in songwriting. It’s a hefty slice of atmospheric electronica, which blends and bends genres in a similar vein to SBRTKT. Rangleklods were involved in all aspects of the release, with Pernille even having a hand in the creation of the iconic artwork.

The first single ‘Lost U’ received acclaim from Noisey and The Line of Best Fit, and forthcoming track ‘Schoolgirls’ is rich with synth pads and expansive percussion, carried by Esben’s baritone vocals.

An acclaimed live act, the duo have performed at notable European festivals such as Roskilde, Sziget and Ja Ja Ja, as well as making their SXSW debut this year. Rangleklods are playing at The Lexington in Islington on May 26th, which is set to be an electric performance.
