Other | Thursday 9th June 2011 | Osh

Sometimes the most miserable thing in the world is going to work in the morning. Especially when you have to deal with traffic wardens. Most of the time they’re a terrible bunch who only add to the average commuters suffering. One man in the Philippines has decided to change this view of his job and add a little bit of joy to the lives of motorists.

Ramiro a 54 year old traffic warden puts a smile on peoples faces every morning. Whilst directing traffic he also dances for commuters in an effort to make people laugh. He's known locally as the dancing cop. Ramiro pulls out a different routine every day and incorporates traffic directing into his dances effortlessly. He's mastered how to do this job in an elaborate and fun to watch way for himself and commuters. He claims he's never received any professional lessons and simply developed his talent naturally. When asked about how he comes up with his routines Ramiro says I perfect my dance moves at home and think about what people would find entertaining and funny.

The most remarkable thing is that Ramiro does this for seven straight hours every day! Local citizens have reacted to this daily spectacle very well. One citizen says that he's always cheered up on his daily commute. The commuter said 'Ramiro is always smiling and nice to motorists and pedestrians alike'. When asked about what makes him do this every day Ramiro said I just want to give people something to look forward to, even if it's a silly dance. I want to show people that you can be happy doing anything if you choose to'.
