Labrinth working on follow-up to Electronic Earth

Other | Monday 4th March 2013 | Osh

Less than a year after his groundbreaking debut Electronic Earth made an impact in the UK, the Hackney-based super-producer who's worked with Tinie Tempah, Plan B and Rihanna is back recording his anticipated follow-up album.

Despite only bursting onto the scene in early 2010 as producer of Tinie Tempah's number-one hit 'Pass Out' (and later 'Frisky'), Labrinth has quickly established himself as one of the most hard-working and sought-after players in the British urban music scene. His debut album Electronic Earth reached number two in the UK Albums Chart, backed by the success of six hugely varied singles, and after releasing a well-received EP on Christmas Day last year Lab is set to return soon with his second full-length album.

After teasing that he'd been working with The X Factor winner James Arthur, Labrinth (real name Timothy McKenzie) has continued to drop hints that he's back in the studio over the last couple of weeks, sharing a photo with American singer-songwriter Skylar Grey and a clip of a brass section performing an unheard melody. Speaking to the BBC, he has described the direction of his new music (which is likely to be released late this year or early next) as "beautiful".
