Review: Carl Craig @ Village Underground

House | Monday 22nd October 2012 | James

Mr Carl Craig: True techno titan, Prince of Planet E, dude from Detroit….

Call him what you will but I’ll stick with ‘rather good DJ’. He flew in to play Mixmag’s Village Underground party on Friday (19th October) and a decent sized lively lot, raved until the small hours were upon them. Grammy nominated Carl played a two-hour classics set and when I say classics I MEAN CLASSICS! He dropped two of my personal faves (and the crowd’s by the sound of it), with ‘Big Fun’ and ‘Strings of Life’ in a set that started a little tough after a fine support set from Paul Woolford, but softened into a groove just at the right point. I managed to sneak backstage and get real close to the big guy easing his way through the set. Effortless DJing.

We managed to grab an exclusive chat with the man himself so check guestlist.net for that soon.

This was the ninth Mixmag Live and I’ll certainly be looking forward to the tenth while I listen to my free Carl Craig mix CD – thanks Mixmag!
