Back The Bass: E-petition Stands Up To Whining Residents

Other | Thursday 27th November 2014 | Annalisa

An e-petition has just been published online that aims to preserve the integrity of clubs to operate in residential areas. The petition, as commissioned by HM Government, is targeted at those who “knowingly move within close proximity of live music venues” only to get peeved off by the noise and try to revoke their licenses.

The petition argues that such complaints are “detrimental to the UK’s entertainment industry” and claims that such party-poopers are endangering our “national artist community”.  The message is simple: if you can’t put up with a couple weekend ravers gabbing away outside your apartment and a smidge of bass resonating through your floorboards, then don’t move in. Why not try somewhere more peaceful, maybe Norfolk?

On a serious note though, this petition is for a great cause and has already gained support from Radio 1 DJ Benji B amongst others. London clubs such as Ministry of Sound and previously Plastic People have previously come under pressure from infuriated locals in the past and been threatened with closure.

The petition has already gained 20,122 signatures at the time of writing and is growing fast. Make sure you sign it here before March 30, 2015.
