Becky Hill previews new song "Losing" to last week's freshers of Hertfordshire

House | Sunday 12th October 2014 | Nicole Breeden

Following her massive success from co-vocalling on the number 1 smash hit “Gecko (Overload)”, it is no wonder that Hill was invited to perform at a freshers’ event for the musically renowned venue “The Forum” last week.

The venue is based at the University of Hertfordshire’s campus and is critically acclaimed for its live performances. For this years freshers’ week, names as big as Example, Matrix and Futurebound, Fuse ODG and more played alongside the ex Voice UK contestant Becky Hill.

Amongst all of these stars, it appeared that Hill was one of the favoured performances of the week as she “really connected with the audience not  just by simply interacting with us, but by speaking to us in between each song like we were her friends partying together” stated a business student.

It was clear that the twenty year old had a personal connection to the students as she empathised with them. For instance Hill gave anecdotes about her manager waking her up early and how “at this age, early starts are not a f****** vibe” and she asked everyone if they were “feeling pissed”.

A member of Becky’s crew also noticed this relationship between her and the audience and had to prompt her back to performing by shouting “They don’t care. Do the song” as you can see in the video below. She then went on to sing her famous UK number 1 chart topper “Gecko” ft Oliver Heldens that reached the top within the first week of its official release.

@HertsFreshers tweeted “Becky Hill smashed it with one epic performance tonight at forumherts #gecko”. However shortly after she hyped up the crowd with her vocals on different dance tracks Rudimental’s “Powerless”, Wilkinson’s “Afterglow and of course Oliver Helden’s “Gecko”, Hill showed us that she can make her own with her latest track “Losing”.

It has an easy moving, lighthearted 90’s feel to it yet contrastingly seems to discuss something not so light; a break - up and how she wonders if her ex has found someone that is right for him because she is “through with losing”.
