Souls of Mischief drop new single featuring Snoop Dogg

RnB/Hip Hop | Wednesday 2nd July 2014 | Annalisa

Hip hop group Souls of Mischief have been gearing up for their sixth studio album release this summer and have teamed up with Snoop Dogg for this reflective love song 'There is Only Now'. Produced by Adrian Younge - the mind behind some of Ghostface Killah and The Delfonics' best work - the forthcoming album also named 'There is Only Now' is set to be something of a masterpeice. This first single is a clear throwback to old school hip hop, the true essence of which, is assuredly creeping back into the mainstream music industry, welcomed with open arms.

Group members A-Plus, Opio and Phesto tell the story of two teenage lovers who are up against all the odds. “But this couple don’t care what you saying, their hearts blazing, can’t nobody tell ‘em nothing, their love is unstoppable.” Just like any other teenage lovers, then. Snoop fits into the track smoothly, rapping about the unfairness of it all. Perhaps he's getting a little sentimental in his old age.

The album's producer Adrian Younge holds an individual talent for awakening purity and rawness in his artists, staying true to his classic, analogue sound. With a number of epic projects in the works including a sequel to Ghostface Killah's 'Twelve Reasons to Die' and big credits on Common and Bilal's forthcoming albums, Adrian Younge is without doubt one of the most intriguing and original producers out there.

There is Only Now is a great return to form for Souls of Mischief and we look forward to the album's release on August 24th. Have a listen to the new single below.

Keep your eyes peeled for an exclusive interveiw with Adrian Younge coming very soon...
