Gorgon City remix Cheryl's "Crazy stupid love"

House | Thursday 19th June 2014 | Nicole Breeden

After some time away from the music and media radar, the Geordie singer Cheryl Cole has returned with her new single “Crazy Stupid Love”. Coming from her progressive fourth solo album which is a follow up from her last one “A Million Lights”, the track features renowned British rap artist Tinie Tempah. According to MTV, Tinie stated that the collaboration is “definitely a big deal for me as she is one of the nations national treasures”.

The song is up-tempo and lighthearted which corresponds with its message of expressing how happy and unexpectedly quick she fell in love. Cole sings “it’s like a rollercoaster but I’m only going up ” which is perhaps a metaphor for her life at the moment, financially and emotionally. She has recently confirmed that she will once again be joining the X Factor judging panel for its upcoming season and she also seems to be in a possible budding relationship as the song suggests. The distinctive, jazzy sound of trumpets accompanying the chorus definitely makes it appear this way!

Tinie added “I’m just glad people are reacting so well to it”. Capital FM said that it had been hauled “amazing” by many fans however it appears that some fans seem to think otherwise. Child carer Sophia Michael tweeted “cant stand the new Cheryl Cole song #bore off” whilst others described it as “embarrassing” and that she should “give up”.

Perhaps noticing these reactions was electronic music producing duo Gorgon City who gave the song a house remix which Cheryl debuted shortly after. The track now takes a “contagious head bopping clap throughout” said regular party goer Robert Flo and the brass band chorus has been replaced with light synthesized chords; a similar sound to the chords used in their famous hit ‘My love”. Student Charlie Richards stated “they transformed it from an annoying song that you cant get out of your head to a club banger”.

Get a glimpse of Cole’s original version below which is due for release on 20th July and Gorgon City’s remix to see which you prefer!
