Drake releases new track featuring James Blake

RnB/Hip Hop | Monday 2nd June 2014 | Annalisa

The newest edition to Drake's repertoire comes as a free download that rings true to that fresh, rolling element present in some of his best tracks. His collaboration with the now world famous James Blake on the tune 'Come Thru' has clearly inspired the Canadian rapper to join forces once again. This time, we recognise Blake's unmistakably effect-laden vocals wind down to the end of the track, revealing the song's deeper side through the soft, throbbing synths.

Yesterday evening, whilst a large portion of the Hip-Hop community were gathered at Summer Jam in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Drake was uploading this reflective, tuneful work '0 to 100/ The Catch Up' to Soundcloud. Cleverly placed on his page at around 8pm of June 1st, visitors and fans of the festival would by now be trawling through their social networks for news on Summer Jam, when of course they stumbled upon Drake's all so familiar flow.

Drake's resounding "I got zero to a hundred real quick" sets the mood of a track that's heavily reminiscent of a similar "Started from the bottom..." notion. The producers behind the half-divided work are Boi-1da, Nineteen85 and 40. James Blake's involvement appears to be a virtual one through the sampling of his vocals, but the final third of the track is certainly in keeping with his soft, atmospheric mastery.
