Lorde Royally Annoys Selena Gomez and is dubbed a ‘Knob’ by Cher Lloyd

Indie | Friday 18th October 2013 | Maha

Recently, Lorde called out Selena Gomez’s song ‘Come & Get it’ as being anti-feminist, and Gomez has shot back, furiously saying “It’s not feminism if you’re tearing down another artist”.  However, the 16-year old is still adamantly sticking to her criticism of Gomez and speaking to MTV News about her comments has revealed that she just “can’t help but express” the way she strongly feels about things.

In fact she has a problem with the entire system of not being able to voice your opinions, “I think there’s a funny culture in music that’s only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn’t 100% good, you’re a ‘hater.’”

She continued on to claim, “Even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique. People will say exactly what they think about a movie or a TV show, and that’s fine, but as soon as you say it about a record, you’re like some little zombie in a funny dungeon. I have pretty strong morals and opinions being in pop music, and I can’t help but express those, which I think people appreciate. I mean, I don’t think I say anything that isn’t backed up. Most of the time I will stand by things that I’ve said.”

For some reason Cher Lloyd managed to involve herself in the proceedings and told J-14, “Why does she have to go and do that? She’s doing so well- what a knob.” Classy as always Cher. She went on obviously perplexed, “Why would she do that? She’s sitting at number one. I think she’s going to eat her words, which she obviously already has, and I think for someone who’s gaining so much success so early, she should be considering herself lucky- it takes a lot of work.”

Lucky or not, Lorde’s new single ‘Royals’ hit the top of the US Hot 100 and she is all set to release the single in the UK on the 20th of October but it seems like along with her music we will hear a lot more of her controversial opinions in the weeks to come. It’s not entirely a bad thing either, if Lorde can back up her opinions then why should there be a call for censorship? Maybe this industry needs some fresh honest opinions from a fresh new talent.
