Butch drops Dope on Say It Play It

House | Friday 4th September 2015 | Christina

Butch drops his Dope EP on Say It Play It, released on vinyl on September 25th and digitally on October 9th.

Seth Troxler continues to maintain unmatched consistency in steadily releasing cross-genre club music across his diverse collection of labels and readies the next 12” on his no nonsense imprint Play It Say it. In the wake of the success from the last installment from The Mekanism comes an EP showcasing the lauded production skills of Butch.

Otherside Records co-owner and a mainstay of institutes such as Cécille Records and Visionquest, Butch is a veteran. Few producers have spread their catalogue as well across releases on Hot Creations, Sei Es Drum, Desolat, Rekids and Moon Harbour. Butch has touched on many bases but managed to maintain a level of consistency that’s kept him in high demand.

Now in the follow up to his Songs About Unconsciousness EP on Watergate Records, he returns with Dope - a slick package of taught and effective house music. The title track kicks things off with a rich textural atmosphere sat atop tumbling bongos and a steadily circling riff. Tribal sounding percussion and distant vocal tones build momentum in a pure dance floor groove before ‘Praise The Lord’ rolls out Butch’s take on a classic Big John Hamilton break. Mangled, delayed vocals stream in ahead of an elongated breakdown that’s guaranteed to send the floor into rapture in another prime addition to the Play It Say It series.
