Shogun Audio Celebrates 10 Years!

Drum and Bass | Friday 17th October 2014 | Arren

Shogun Audio is 10 years old this year and shows no sign of slowing its pace. The label co-founded by BBC Radio 1’s Drum and Bass ambassador Friction, and K-Tee, has gone from strength to strength and now has a strong artist roster who continuously push the boundaries of technical heavy beats and liquid gems. It is highly regarded in the drum and bass scene as one of the finest record labels, as proved by their involvement in BBC Radio 1xtra’s drum & bass soundclash along with Ram, Hospital and Viper.

The output from the label usually consists of heavy-hitting drum & bass or chilled liquid bliss, and with exclusive artist signings from Alix Perez, Rockwell and Icicle to name a few; you know it’s no joke. Shogun’s releases are usually designed for clubs, supplying DJ’s with explosive basslines and infectious melodies for sets across the globe, however in some of their LP releases, their artists have been expanding the idea of heavy technical bass-littered music and creating something more than just a club hit. Alix Perez’s debut album on the label, ‘1984’ was highly regarded in 2009, and Icicle’s 'Under the Ice' in 2011 was Mixmag’s Album of the Month. 2011 also saw their new compilation series and 50th release, Way of the Warrior' receive the award for ‘Best Compilation in DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards.

The label has been behind of the biggest tracks in the drum & bass world and new boys The Prototypes and Joe Ford look set to continue the trend. With such quality output it comes as no surprise that their events schedule is jammed packed throughout the year, with nights across the globe. They are regulars at Digital in their home city of Brighton and are a main feature at Great Suffolk Street Warehouse in London (moving there after the closure of Cable).

Over the past 10 years Shogun Audio have carved their own space in the drum & bass arena and in the process have released some absolute classics and game changers. They now hold a dedicated following across the world, and a strong selection artists that will continue to impress clubbers, and there new selection of Shogun warriors will ensure that Shogun will still be here in another decade, with an even more impressive back catalogue.

To celebrate Shogun Audio are hosting some nights across the UK and a couple in Europe, which kicked off earlier this month, check the link below for the remaining tickets to the events http://www.shogunaudio.co.uk/news/10-years-of-shogun-audio
