Hospital bring the carnival vibes with Fast Jungle Music

Drum and Bass | Monday 17th August 2015 | Arren

South London’s elite drum & bass crew Hospital Records drop the Fast Jungle Music compilation.

1996 was the year that Tony Colman and Chris Goss founded Hospital Records as a way to release their own music. Fast forward 19 years and it is now one of drum & bass’ most important and influential labels, with a strong artist roaster including High Contrast, Netsky, Nu:Tone, Camo & Krooked, and Danny Byrd. Over the years Hospital have developed a robust staple sound for the label, which of course have deep influences from jungle.

Those jungle sways are what their latest compilation is centred on. Fast Jungle Music is a celebration of the label's love for all things jungle. It features 46 tracks from the Hospital and Med School back catalogues, all mixed by Hospital Records’ veteran Nu:Tone. Its all killer no filler with a number of classic tracks, some re-mastered, alongside modern day bangers. As you can imagine the names gracing the track list are huge, ranging from true Hospital legends like High Contrast and Danny Byrd to some of the newer names like S.P.Y and Anile.

Nu:Tone is up on mixing duties and executes the job perfectly. He keeps up the pace throughout the two mixes, chopping and changing through some truly uplifting vocal tracks to bolder and darker basslines rounded off with a hefty dose of broken beats. The strong tracklisting bursting with massive records only serves to remind us of the impact Hospital has on jungle.
