Hip-hop was around before you knew

When we think of hip-hop we think of Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, P Diddy and other legends of our time. However UK artist Akala brilliantly compares the masterful lyrics of hip-hop legends to that of Shakespeare.
Akala highlights where Hip-Hop derives from:
"Hip" coming from "Hippy" in the Senegalese language meaning "to open one’s eyes" - being enlightened, being intelligent. "Hop" from the English word meaing "to move, a form of movement". Thus creating the concept hip-hop - intelligent movement.
