Calyx & Teebee deliver 'All or Nothing'

Drum and Bass | Wednesday 7th November 2012 | Jenny

It has got to have been the most eagerly awaited drum and bass release of the year.

RAM Records finally released Calyx and Teebee’s follow up to their debut album ‘Anatomy’ this week.

The duo have kept fans hanging on for five years but this 12 track collection of their unique sounds is most definitely worth the wait. The boys have recently been exciting crowds across the globe with their impressive 6-deck mixing and the super tight production on ‘All or Nothing’ stands as testament to this. There is huge diversity across the board; a collaboration with DJ Craze and Foreign Beggars provides hip hop vibes in ‘We Become One’, which contrasts the more minimal and chilled ‘Strung Out’.

‘Elevate This Sound’ has to be my top track; silky smooth vocals and uplifting bass line. ‘You’ll Never Take Me Alive’ featuring Beardyman is punchy and powerful, whilst the sweeter sound of ‘Starstruck’ is more reminiscent of some of their previous work.

This is one of those albums that represents what is exciting about drum and bass today – Calyx and Teebee remain pioneers in creating diverse sound and ‘All or Nothing’ is a refined example of this.
