Shogun Audio Warehouse Party! REVIEWED

One warehouse, one label, two arches.
London Warehouse Events and Shogun Audio combined unworldly forces last weekend for one of the biggest nights in bass this year. With tickets selling out in 48 hours, hundreds of warriors of the brand descended on Great Suffolk Street Warehouse in London Bridge, and I was one of them. It was my first visit to this truly sick venue; the giant cavernous space provided the ideal dark and grungy atmosphere and the crowds had the freedom to move fairly easily through the two rooms.
The line up had created an online fury with its insane range of colossal favourites featuring Friction, Rockwell, Alix Perez, Icicle, Ed Rush + Optical and Spectrasoul amongst many others. I first caught Icicle’s live set with LX One in the main room, whose flawless production and hints of darkly enticing drum patterns had already filled the room with respecting fans. It was a perfect introduction into my most highly anticipated artists of the night, Spectrasoul boys Jack and Dave. Their mind blowing album ‘Delay No More’ dropped to critical acclaim this summer and hearing tracks such as ‘Light in the Dark’ and ‘Memento’ mixed faultlessly had the crowd revelling in the raw beauty of their sound.
Switching up the pace a bit was Hatcha over in Room 2, whose seminal dubstep sound was blasting through the tunnelling. Friction with SP:MC was another enormous highlight, dropping everything to keep us guessing, including a sick Marka remix. I caught some of Ed Rush and Optical’s classic virus set but you could not fail to get caught up in Chase and Status’ DJ set with Rage; rarely have I seen such an electric crowd. Before the staff descended to attempt to clear the venue (now looking like an underground landfill site); The Prototypes closed proceedings brilliantly alongside the ever impressive Linguistics.
There were some seriously warm vibes on here on Saturday, with everyone I met agreeing what an amazing night and atmosphere Shogun had created. Big!
