6 Lyric Fails from Robin Thicke's 'Paula'

Other | Wednesday 16th July 2014 |

Thicke’s ‘Paula’ has sold 54 copies in the UK, so Guestlist wanted to ask why!

1. He compares his ex-wife to chips… or to dip?

I thought everyone was gonna eat the chips
Turns out I’m the only one who double dipped (truth)
(Black Tar Cloud)

2. He rhymes roses with toses…. No comment.

Every time you walked through that door
Should’ve bought white roses good and plenty and rubbed your toses
(Too Little Too Late)

3. Maybe Paula just isn’t as keen on toes as he is

She be dancin’ on her tippy toes
Her tippy toes
Dancin’ on her tippy toes
Her tippy toes
Everywhere my baby goes
Its tippy toes
Dancin on her tippy tippy tippy tippy toes
Dancin on her toes
Dancin on her toes
Dancin on her tippy toes
Her tippy toes
Now everywhere my baby goes
Is tippy toes
Dancin on her tippy tippy toes
(Tippy Toes)

4. Thicke shows he hasn’t changed, and still doesn’t understand that no really does mean no

One, two, look at you
Three, four, she locked the door
I keep knocking and knocking and knocking and knocking
(Lock The Door)

5. And in case she had forgotten, he reminds Paula of the infamous twitter photo of him feeling up another woman

Beautiful secrets that nobody’s supposed to keep
A bird flew in the window took a picture and left with a naughty tweet
(Something Bad)

6. Then reminds her of how much better life is without him:

Deeply intrigued by what you’ve never had
Emotion explosions none of which are mad
Now every dream you feel is coming true
Cause there ain't nobody to tell you what to do, aye aye aye
(Whatever I Want)

7. But hooray! Thicke finally manages to find something that rhymes with ‘hug’

The world can be such a lonely place
Sometimes you need a new drug
Sweet love can leave such a bitter taste
Sometimes you just need a hug
(Love Can Grow  Back)

Good job, Robin. At least you can show her that you’re learning.
