Visions of the Future

Electric Youth Ensemble is a nine-piece group of young musicians brought together by AudioActive to push the limits of live music technology-the first of its kind in the UK.

Visions of the Future is a work that draws on influences including Floating Points, Steve Reich and FKA Twigs, and uses technology ranging from a modified 1982 Commodore 64 to laptops wirelessly connected via Ableton Link. Voice, flute and electric guitar are combined with cutting edge sampling, live drums and analogue synthesis.

Visuals come courtesy of Olivia Louvel, who has created a bespoke backdrop of archive footage exploring the title theme. Musical direction comes from AudioActive's Cate Ferris, Jack Kingslake and Max Wheeler.
