Muningu Jazz Band with Sheila Fleming

Sheila Fleming is a singer songwriter of contemporary folk music in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She has the voice of an angel, a social and community conscience and a gift with lyrics. She will be the featured guest with African Fusion jazz band Muningu.

As a preview to their Shakori Hills GrassRoots debut, MUNINGU will be hosting a local groove session right here in pretty little Pittsboro. The perfect way to get psyched for our favorite festival, Muningu's vibe is as funky and fiery as it is melodic and mellow. The four members of Muningu are new residents of the triangle, arriving from Africa less than a year ago. Let's give them a warm Pittsboro welcome by dancing the night away with them.

Muningu is an African Fusion jazz band from the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville ). This four-man group features Elie Mabanza- guitar, Emmanuel Nsingani- bass, Lohd Sermon Kaboudiazambi- drums, and Obed NatHan Mbasi- keyboards.these talented musicians formed the group 2012. With the goal of producing a very unique sound merging jazz with their Congolese musical language. Their idea was an immediate success. Their popularity grew quickly in the Congo where they performed at national and international music festivals, were featured artist on television programs, performed for the French Cultural Center and the U.S. Embassy. They also performed regularly at clubs and luxury hotels around Brazzaville.

In 2014 they decided to bring their captivating fusion to the U.S. with in the first seven months of being in the Raleigh NC area they've produced their first U.S. project. Entitled "New Begings" a six tract demo to shoe case their musical style, with vocals in French, English, Lingala and, Lari. While introducing this sound to club patrons in their new found home. The multitude of flavors from pop, world music, folk, RandB and, jazz are creating new opportunities for the future of Muningu.
