THE TRAGICALLY HIP

Formed in 1983 in Kingston, Ontario, the Tragically Hip comprise of childhood friends Gordon Downie (vocals), Bobby Baker (guitar), Paul Langlois (guitar), Gord Sinclair (bass), and Johnny Fay (drums). They started performing in small venues under the name The Tragically Hip (took from a skit in the Michael Nesmith movie Elephant Parts) in the mid Eighties, until they were discovered by MCA.

The proper studio debut, Up to Here (1989) produced four singles, "Blow at High Dough", "New Orleans Is Sinking", "Boots or Hearts" and "38 Years Old" which became essential elements of any modern rock radio playlist in Canada. However, it was only in 1992, with the third LP Fully completely that The Hip gained international recognition: by the mid Nineties The Tragically Hip became a stadium sensation without ever having a major hit in America. After a nearly three-year break, the Tragically Hip re-emerged with their 13th studio album Now for Plan A in the fall of 2012.

The Tragically Hip managed to maintain a steady career through the course of the past 30 years, punctuated by infectious live performances and a shower of accolades and awards (including 14 Junos). With nine of their 12 albums reaching the #1 spot in Canada, The Tragically Hip have become a symbol of the Great White North. They've been performing outstanding rock shows since 1983, and their KOKO show is definitely going to be one of those.
