With support from Radio 1, 1Xtra, BBC Introducing, B. Traits and more - Pikcha is certainly one to watch right now.

We asked him a few questions.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I'm from a small town called Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. When I'm not at home, I'm living as a student in Leeds

What do you study at uni?

I study music production at uni, it's great to actually be able to do a course I really enjoy and learn some things that will help my music career as well.

Where did the name Pikcha come from?

Just sounded like a unique name, I originally wanted just Picture but decided on a different spelling.

How did you first get into the music scene?

When I was about 15, I bought my first pair of turntables and started mixing drum & bass. Shortly after, I managed to bag a residency at a club in my local town. It wasn't until I was about 18 that I started writing music, as soon as I did though, I pretty much haven't stopped. As soon as I went to university I started getting interest from labels, and I was putting out music pretty regularly. Things are changing a lot for me recently though, and I have the Internet to thank for that. Social sites like Soundcloud are a great way to get heard.

Which of your tracks usually gets the best reaction?

Recently, ‘That Emotion’ seems to get a few hands in the air. It's difficult to say though, I try to keep a constant energy throughout my sets.

Out of all your original tracks and remixes, which is your favourite?

It's difficult to pick a favourite, I'm usually most into my latest track, as it's fresh. My new one hasn't been released anywhere yet though.

What's been your favourite set to date? Where has the best atmosphere?

I played on a pirate ship in the middle of a lake at a festival recently, the atmosphere was perfect and the crowd were great. One of those sets I won't ever forget.

You've recently played at Secret Garden Party, how was it?

Yeah, Secret Garden was special. I played the Pagoda stage, it was packed, the weather was gorgeous and the vibe was one of the best I've ever been a part of. I'd love to play there again next year.

How do you know Eton Messy?

The Eton messy boys have been great in helping to promote my sound over the past few months. I only know them through supporting my music. What these guys do is great, and I'm thankful for their help so far.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Absolutely loving Sampha at the minute, his new EP has been on repeat alot recently. He has such a soulful voice, which I love from an artist. Also, been listening to Jesse Gavelle's release on Transmission Audio a lot, can't wait to play out a couple of tracks from that. For me though, my favourite track of the moment has to be Banks' 'Warm Water', the production from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is right up my street.

If you had to listen to one track for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

This is actually a really tough question. I'd probably have to choose something by Aphex Twin, maybe 'Alberto Balsam', no matter how many times I listen to that track, I still enjoy it as much as the first time I heard it.

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?

I'd love to work with Eliza Doolittle, she has a great voice. But I think my dream collaboration would be a track with James Blake.

What does the future look like for Pikcha?

There's a lot of exciting things happening for me at the moment. I can't say too much at the moment though. Expect to see me at more festivals and clubs. Also, a few more remixes over the next few months.
